Gryphon -- Pipe Cleaners by kalicothekat Gryphon -- Pipe Cleaners by kalicothekat
Sorry for the flood of submissions, guys |D;. And I hope ya'll aren't getting sick of my pipe cleaner sculptures 8D;;.

Here's a generic bald eagle-lion gryphon/griffin/griffon/however you like to spell it. :) I love gryphons and hadn't sculpted one (noncommission, I mean) in about 4-5 years XD. It's funny comparing the two...Here, have a look for yourself!!

:star: together: [link] and by itself: [link]
lol xD...yes...I used to use googly eyes on these sculptures 8D;; Now you know why I've never posted my old pipe cleaners sculptures -hides it back under a rug with the rest 8D;-. But it is fun to see improvement heheh...I could make one of those Quest for Improvement things with my pipe cleaner sculptures, if I can handle taking photos of such awful art XD...would anyone be interested?

He's probably for sale if anyone's interested. 30 or so$ + shipping and handling. Please note me or email me (kalico@gmail.com) if you are interested :).

Picture/sculpture is © to me. Please do not use this image without my permission, thank you.

What is it about gryphons that makes them such good fodder for pipe cleaners?

How do you manage to make the eyes? They're very pretty.

I love the face. The front legs look too big, but I think that's a problem with griffins in general and not with your sculpture.

Seriously, I love it!!! Love the realistic colors too. Not that I don't love the colorful ones, because I do! This actually inspired me to make one for myself. I'll upload it later. :)

How do you maaaake those eyes?

I want to make something with pipe cleaners now too. Cx

But I'll need some first. Which brand do you use, and where do you get so many colors of them? O:

I.......take the fluff from a pipe cleaner (off the wire) and roll it into a ball and glue it on XD and then I use markers to shade =P. Lastly, I add a tinnnny ball of white for the highlight and a little black ball for the pupil, if needed :D.
And go for it !! They're so fun x3.
And I use Chenille stems  and I get them from Michael's, a craft store, in all the assorted and individual color packs :D. Lots of colors are available...[link] = all the colors I own, though I actually found a few more colors after I took the photo x3. But, with markers or paint, you can get almost any color at all! :D
There ARE other, even cheaper brands, like one pack of 100 I got at a 99 cent store...but they're not very good quality--I've noticed that the cheaper ones have one wire inside, or two thin ones, while the more expensive Chenille stems have 2 twisted wires of durable and good quality :D.

...only I would notice something as weird as that o_o;;...hehehe ;D.
Hope this was helpful and happy pipe cleaning XD!

Wow, yours is certainly better than mine! It doesn't look quite as flexible, but certainly more impressive.

Another nice pipe-cleaner piece. It's funny comparing the old and new pics, I must say. *Thinks the googly eyes on the old gryph look funny*

These are so cool. I could never figure out how to make things like that out of pipecleaners. xD I usually end up stripping the fluff from them, somehow.

And omfg I'm in love with your old one. XD It won me over with those big soulful googly-eyes. ... It's so freaking cute. *incoherent blabbering*

This new one is incredibly sweet, that's for sure, with all that detailing. Definately an improvement. :}
