Edit (9/8): She just called me and told me how much she loved it :). I'm so happy that she does :).
Also, I have a question--would anyone be interested in a print of this? If so, I would donate any proceeds to a Breast Cancer foundation, for sure. But ... I don't know if I want to do it through dA, since they only give me about a dollar of the proceeds |D;. So, if you're interested, please send me a note or email (kalico AT gmail.com).

Original description: I found out recently that yet another one of my old teachers has breast cancer. She started undergoing chemotherapy this week...I haven't seen her since last year, but I've heard that she's been extremely strong. She's a wonderful person, and I hate that this is happening to her....So, I wanted to do something for her, and so I did the only thing I could do: art.

Why a phoenix? You see, whenever I'd doodle during her class (which was most days XD), she'd always wander over and comment on my doodles at the end of class, not minding that I was, in fact, doodling xD. She always loved my phoenixes the most of my doodles, and she especially liked The Phoenix of the Elements print I took to school one day. So, I decided to paint her a little, tiny watercolor painting, which I'll send to her, of a phoenix.

I hope she likes it.

It's interesting how hope is such a fragile thing, like a butterfly, as one careless touch of a butterfly's wings will cause it to be unable to fly ever again.
And yet, I believe that from every bad thing that happens to a person, something good can come from it. Our experiences and trials make us stronger, and renewal of spirit and mind is always possible, like a phoenix's rebirth. The world is a beautiful place; we just need to find the peace and joy in the turmoil around us all.

I pray for her healing and keep hope for the future.
