My character Hati, named after the Norse mythological wolf who chases the moon in an attempt to eat it. My Hati, who plays a small role in my novel Finch, is not trying to eat the moon |D, but she is chasing what she cannot have--metaphorically, the moon in the day (let's not tell her that sometimes the moon is visible during the day ).
Etc. tl;dr
I really should draw her more--I think this is the first time I've uploaded her to dA? And her colors are still a work in progress |D...but she'll always be naturally colored, at least, because.....umm....I'm not a fan of the pink wolves that dA's pretty much filled with |D. I hope I don't offend anyone with that.
This was a speed paint from a photo I took on a recent trip to California. And then I added Hati to it...and it's meant to be unrefined . I should've used references for Hati, though.... I flipped it horizontally at the end because it read better O:.
Eh, that character's alright... but I think it would have looked better if you'd colored him like this... [link]
Hahahah. XD No, I really REALLY love this character's design and colors!! The markings go so well on that color. He looks very natural, like he could come out of a Native American folk legend. I love the mixture of the tan grass with the green grass! Very gorgeous picture!! ^_____^
That's an impressive background It all looks like a big ol' swamp, really, but I'm down with bogs, so it's good yo. On a more serious note, great job incorporating that haze into the picture! It's just neat how there isn't an exact horizon, but the way you laid the picture out has a sense of perspective
And it's cool how it looks like Hati has her own night sky tattooed on her back -- props for the mythology cue. Overall, this is very well done! :3

Nice guess--I actually did take the photo at a swamp XD! Or as it called itself, "A Nature Walk Through the Marshlands" ...aka a swamp .
And aww, thanks for the comment on the perspective--I'm glad you felt that worked out :3. And she must've paid a lot for it. Must've been rather painful too. Poor Hati.
i think everything came together well; i like the way the horizon fades in the mist/fog. poor ol' hati will have to get her paws cleaned after that marsh :'(
