Hahaha, I bet you guys never expected to see another Phoenix of the Element! Well, here I am to surprise you all 8D.

Partly done in thanks for almost 600 faves on the Phoenix quartet ([link]) ;3;. Thank you guys so much for all the wonderful comments and faves and things on it! Ya'll rock :D. (And it's kinda neat to see how my style's changed over the past year and a half! :D)

Anyway, in tradition of the previous phoenixes, this here is the Phoenix of the Sunset and the element of Darkness. He commands over the Night. He dies when the sun rises and is reborn each time the sun sets. His feathery, plume-like crest contains the stars of the night, and as he flies, he releases them. Before he dies each morning, he carefully gathers them all up again, sticking them securely into his plume. His bright owlish eyes allow him to see better in the dark than in the light, and his owlish ear-like feather tufts give him the ability to fly unhampered, swiftly and unnoticed. Here, he has just been reborn in the sunset and has started placing the stars into the sky.

When I decided to do at least one more "element" (I hope to do more, but am wondering if I should hmm...Light would be an obvious choice, but what else?), I chose darkness first. When I thought about darkness, I thought about all the evil and monsters and dark creatures everyone associates with darkness. Why does the darkness scare humans so much? Is it because we cannot see, so we are afraid of the unknown? I wanted to show what the darkness might feel like to an owl or a bat--bright and safe. The night/sunset is beautiful and so is darkness :). And I kinda made this phoenix slightly more owlish, while still retaining its phoenixy and eagley-traits :D.

I hope you guys like it n_n!
